Vyvanse and Other Medication Changes from Iowa Medicaid for 2022
Date: 12/22/21
As of January 1st, 2022, Vyvanse will no longer be a preferred medication on the Iowa Medicaid Preferred Drug List. It will be listed as non-preferred, and as such will require a prior authorization for all age groups.
Additionally, there are other similar medications that are preferred on the PDL and do not require a prior authorization for members that are age 6 through age 20, such as generic Adderall XR capsules.
As customary, Envolve Pharmacy Solutions will review and respond to prior authorization requests within 24 hours of receipt.
For additional information on the mentioned medications and others, please refer to the Iowa Medicaid Informational Letter No. 2291-MC-FFS dated November 23, 2021 and effective January 1, 2022.
