Value Add Change - Breast Pumps Now Covered by Iowa Medicaid Program

Beginning November 1, 2022, our Iowa Total Care members will need to obtain a prescription for breast pumps. Our members can then take the prescription to any state approved Durable Medical Equipment (DME) provider to receive the breast pump.

Previously, this was a “value added” service that Iowa Total Care provided; however, this is now a covered service under the Medicaid program. We wanted to make you aware that this information is being shared with expectant mothers, so you may be asked to write a prescription for this important medical supply after November 1, 2022.
