Chiropractic Claims Recovery Process & Next Steps

In April 2023, Iowa Total Care re-sent the Chiropractic Recovery Project letters for 2021 and 2022 claims that were billed incorrectly per Iowa Medicaid guidelines (see Resources below). Iowa Total Care extended the timeframe for claim corrections until Aug. 1, 2023, due to the high volume of claims and extended processing time needed for corrections.

At the end of the extension Iowa Total Care performed a full review of the project and removed any claims that were corrected or recouped. The recovery process on the remaining claims will begin on Sept. 11, 2023.

Providers who want to submit a check for the remaining balance to avoid off-sets for current claims must contact the Provider Relations Specialist for their territory by Sept. 6, 2023.

We will continue to accept corrected claims throughout the recovery process until Nov. 1, 2023. At that time, any claim submitted that is past timely filing guidelines will deny.
